Our Work

Rwanda is a small, highly populated and very poor country in Central Africa. Having been been incredibly damaged by the recent genocide the people are now beginning to recover and the Government is rebuilding the infrastructure.

Bigogwe

Bigogwe is situated in the northwest of the country, in a broad valley at the foot of Mount Karisimbi (featured in the film “Gorillas in the Mist”). A Health Centre was built in 1992 to serve about 200,000 people living in area. The Genocide supervened in 1994 and as a result the clinic had never been used, although the population has risen considerably since then. The Government of Rwanda has now given responsibility for its management to the Diocese of Shyira, and the clinic was re-opened in January 2005.
